Dixie Barbour
has been employed with the Chatham County Sheriff's Department for 19 years. She was promoted to Lieutenant
in January 2009. Dixie has worked in all areas of the Chatham County Jail to include Receiving and Discharge,
Lobby and Control and Housing Units. As a Sergeant, She was the Assistant Unit Manager for one of the Six
Housing Units for three years prior to being promoted to Lieutenant. Lt. Barbour is currently a Watch
Commander for the facility. She is a certified P.O.S.T. Instructor and Firearms Instructor. In her
spare time, she assists the Training Unit when needed.
Lt. Barbour has five children ranging
in age from 10 to 33 years old. She also has five grandchildren. She enjoys riding her
motorcycle, teaching, fishing and watching her son Matthew compete in Taekwondo, Bowling, and Baseball.
