Captain Stokes is a lifelong resident of Hancock County. She is a member of the
Saint Galilee Baptist Church in Sparta, GA. Captain Stokes graduated from the Hancock County School System in 1989.
Captain Stokes has over 16 years of law enforcement experience, serving the citizens of Washington and Hancock County.
Captain Stokes is currently employed by the Washington County Sheriff's Department.
She has worked in all areas of the department. She is currently assigned as the Jail Administrator. Captain
Stokes, a longtime member of the Georgia Jail Association was appointed Regional Representative for District 4 (Washington,
Johnson, Truetlen, Emanuel, Laurens, Bulloch, Ware Counties) in 2007. Captain
Stokes was re-elected as Regional Representative in 2008.
Captain Stokes is dedicated law enforcement professional.
She was awarded the Jail Administrator of the Year Award by the Georgia Jail Association in 2008. She was also nominated and awarded the Law Enforcement Officer of the Year by the Exchange Club of Washington
County.
In addition to her law enforcement duties, Captain Stokes dedicates her time educating
parents and caregivers on the proper usage of Child Safety Restraints to help prevent injuries during an automobile crash.
She has also dedicated her time assisting individuals with Drug and Alcohol problems by helping get them into rehabilitation
centers, enabling them to become more productive members of society.
