Hello,

 

My name is Emmit Tate. I am employed at the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office as a Lieutenant over the support services of the detention division. I have been employed  at Whitfield County since 1985. I began my career as a Patrol Officer then moved to Criminal Investigations, after almost 7 years as a Burglary Investigator, I was Promoted to Sergeant in our Court Services Division, three years later I was Promoted to Lieutenant (Assistant Jail Administrator) in 1997. Since that time, I have done another short stint on Patrol as a shift commander and then back to the jail  where I was placed over housing In our new jail, then over Training for the jail then the entire Sheriff’s office and currently in Support Services of the Jail.

 

I have an Associate’s Degree in Education, and several advanced certifications thru P.O.S.T. including, (Intermediate Certification, Advanced Certification, Supervision Certification,Management Certification, and Senior Deputy Certification) I also have several Instructor Certifications including, ( General Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Emergency Medical Instructor).  

 

I am married to the former Laura Overstreet of the Chatham County Sheriff’s office. We have been married for 8 years. I have a Daughter and a Son both 20-years old and two step-sons aged 23 and 19-years old.  I belong to the Mount Vernon United Methodist Church in Rocky Face, Ga. And the Gordon Springs #463 Masonic Lodge, also in Rocky Face, where I am currently serving  as Master of the Lodge for the 2nd time.

 

I have served on the Georgia Jail Association board of directors from 1998 – 2002  Region 1 Representative , 2003 – 2004 Historian,  2004- present as Region 1 Representative I have enjoyed my time on the board and meeting each of you at the annual conference.  It would be a privilege  and an honor to keep serving on the Board of Directors of  the Georgia Jail Association From Region 1.
